Stoner Creek Walkers
About Us

Stoner Creek Farm is owned and operated by Mike and Leisha Holzknecht.  We have around 350 acres, with only about 100 in pasture, the rest is woods.  We have made a few trails that we really enjoy and love to share if you don't mind up and down and around hillsides.  :)

I started raising Tennessee Walkers in 2000, with the help of my husband, Mike.  My dream had always been to raise horses, but until I was introduced to the Tennessee Walking Horse in 2000,  it hadn't become a reality.  Now I'm living my dream!!

We love to travel with our horses and visit our friends!  So far, we've been to WY, MI, CO, TN, and IN, with our horses, and of course, all kinds of places here in our beautiful KY.  Check out the
TRAIL SCENES page for photo's of some of the places we've been!  The photo top left is of Mike and I on one of our many trips to MI, at our friends house, in Hoxeyville.  Mike is riding Wa'te and I'm on my favorite mare, Eb's Midnight Baby.

Mike has two mares that he rides. Cheema, a bl/wh tobiano, and Wa'te, a palomino sabino.  Wa'te is a daughter of Skeeter, a very well known palomino sabino stallion, of this area.  Unfortunately, I don't have any one horse that I ride all the time.  I usually ride whichever mare isn't in foal, or whatever needs riding.  We also have two more Skeeter babies, they are Lily, four yr. old palomino sabino mare, and is finally my number one trail horse! and Lakota, a five year old palomino sabino, he is going to be Mike's trail horse!  We love Skeeter babies!  Skeeter is a well known palomino stallion of the area.. The story is that he is a grandson of Merry Go Boy, and that his papers were put on another horse (back in the day) after he had a severe leg injury.  I don't doubt the story is true, because, Skeeter has outstanding offspring, and if you mention Skeeter, people know who your talking about.. That says it all!

We also have one horse that is retired, an American Saddlebred/Thoroughbred mare, Mina. Yep, what a mix, huh!  Thoroughbred and Saddlebred, but you know, she rode very nicely, if you didn't mind dancing thru the trails!!  :) I used to like that sort of thing, but as I've gotten older, I much prefer a gaited horse.  Mina is the dam of Cheema and Wa'te, and they are super nice trail horses.

Pride's Stroke Of Midnite, Cocoa's Champagne Threat, Bittersweet and Mingo have all gone on to the highest of green pastures.. We miss 'em. :(

We also have a commercial cow/calf operation, with around 24 head of brood cows.  We've decided to make the sad decision to no longer raise cattle and are in the process of selling the herd.. But on the bright side, more pasture for my horses!!!

If you're ever in the area, stop by, there's always a stall or two that needs cleaning. :)  Just kidding!!  We can take a stroll thru our pastures or pull up a chair under the shade tree, drink fresh brewed iced tea, and shoot the breeze!  Happy Trails!
